Leak street tunnel: a giant canvas for street artists
One of the if not the only and definitely most known authorised graffiti area in London is living up to the expectations. Artist, loads of them showed love here and keep doing so like the only guy I met that morning who was dropping up what looked like a piece that is worth coming back very soon to check out. Below are just a few shots of that morning, click here to see the gallery I especially put together for it. Read More Read More
Gordon Cheung at Room: multi media artist
I always find fascinating when an artist can juggle between medias or techniques, when artists can be as varied as Gordon Cheung is. It is definitely a sign of open mindedness and in this case also talent. Pyrographics, spray paint, oil, acrylics, sculpture, animation… Gordon Cheung seems to explore everything in is art. THE JOURNEY (ink, acrylic gel and spray paint on canvas), BEAR and BULL (both being acrylic gel and spray on canvases) are definitely my favorite pieces.... Read More
Digital painting: not like the real thing isn’t it?
With computers everywhere (or almost) and the digital age, a new form of art is emerging and while the end product can be rather astonishing, this can surely not be compared with the real thing that is painting with a physical medium. Do not get me wrong here, ART-PIE does not dislike it or having a go at all the digital painters, I am just trying to say that I surely would not get the same feeling of excitement I get with holding a spray paint can or a brush if I had to paint... Team Robbo went back to Regent Street Canal and modified the piece which now seems to imply that Banksy is fishing for ‘street cred’. One thing to notice in all this is the two different approaches – Banksy paints over while Team Robbo... Read More

Video painting: showing the world in real time
What an exciting concept and so twenty-first century! Any web 2.0 person with a strong interest in art has to embrace this concept. Not surprising that the idea blossomed in a philosopher mind – Hilary Lawson who is also a documentary film maker. What is all about then? ‘escape the limitations of the traditional video narrative’ ‘escape our cultural and perceptual closures, freeing the viewer to play in the openness of the image’ Wow, well said folks... Banksy v. King Robbo or when 2 legends clash
And here we go again. ‘I am the best, you are not’. ‘There is only one place a the top and it’s mine’. Boring. Banksy’s latest work has landed him in an old fashioned street fight. He indeed thought he’ll modernize a 24-year-old work by ‘King Robbo’ in Camden, North London. Read More Read More
